How do I convert a WebP image to PNG?
Add the WebP above and click “Convert to PNG”. The tool decodes the picture in your browser and gives you a PNG to download. Your original is not changed, so you keep both versions.
Pick this route when the point is the picture’s shape rather than its photographic detail: a logo with no background, an icon, a chart or a sticker. These are exactly the pictures where a transparent background must survive the trip.
Tip: Drop the PNG on a colored background after converting to confirm the cut-out edges are clean. A white page can hide rough edges that show up on dark colors.
Why PNG for transparent images and graphics?
PNG was built for graphics. It keeps edges exact, stores transparency with fine gradations so shadows blend smoothly, and does not introduce the smudgy halos around text that photo formats can. That is why designers pass logos around as PNG.
Not every WebP is a graphic. Some are ordinary photographs, and a photo as PNG can be several times larger than it needs to be. Decide by content: graphics and cut-outs to PNG, plain photos to JPG.
What do I use the PNG for afterwards?
- Slides and documents. Place a logo or sticker on a colored slide without a white box around it.
- Design work. Layer a cut-out over other pictures in an editor.
- Stickers and overlays. Keep a transparent sticker transparent in programs that do not know WebP.
- Screenshots. Keep text in a captured interface crisp.
If the recipient asks specifically for JPG, such as a form that rejects anything else, convert to JPG instead and accept the white background.
Is it safe to convert WebP to PNG online?
Yes. The page loads online, but the conversion runs in your browser. The WebP is read, turned into a PNG and returned on your own device, and nothing about the file, its name or its size goes to a server.
After you have opened it once, the tool keeps working without a connection. You can verify the privacy yourself by watching the network tab in your browser as you convert.
