How do I convert HEIC to JPG on iPhone?
Open this page in Safari, tap the box and pick photos from your library or the Files app. Choose a quality, tap “Convert to JPG”, and your new files are saved to the phone. Nothing else is required: no app, no account, no cable and no trip through a computer.
The same steps work on an iPad or a Mac. On a Mac, drag the photos from Finder straight onto the box. The conversion is quick even for a full burst of pictures, because your own device does the work.
Tip: If you only want to share a few pictures from your iPhone, there is also a built-in setting under Camera, Formats that saves future photos as most compatible JPG. Converting here fixes the ones you already have.
Why can’t I open HEIC files on Windows or upload them to a website?
HEIC, also called HEIF, is Apple’s modern photo format. It is efficient, but Windows needs an extra codec to display it, many older programs ignore it, and plenty of upload forms accept only JPG or PNG. That is why a photo that looks fine on your phone can be rejected by a job application, a marketplace listing or a school portal.
Converting to JPG solves it in one step. A JPG opens in every browser, every phone, every editor and every printer shop. If you need to send a bunch of photos to someone using Windows, convert them first and they will simply work.
- Uploading to a form? Use medium quality to stay under size limits.
- Printing photos? Use high quality to keep the detail.
- Need a document instead? Turn the photos into a PDF with the HEIC to PDF tool.
- Photos from AirDrop? They are usually HEIC, so convert before emailing them to a Windows user.
Which browsers can convert HEIC, and what happens in the others?
We want to be straightforward about this. This tool relies on your browser being able to open HEIC pictures. Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac can. Many other browsers cannot, and if you drop a HEIC photo into one of those, the page shows a clear message instead of producing a broken file.
If you see that message, the fix is easy: open the same page in Safari on an Apple device, or move the photos to an iPhone, iPad or Mac and convert them there. We do not upload anything to a server to get around this, because keeping your photos on your device is the whole point.
Is it safe to convert HEIC to JPG online?
Yes. The page loads online, but the conversion runs inside your browser. Each photo is read, decoded and re-saved as JPG on your device, and none of that data is sent to a server or kept after you close the page. That matters when the pictures are of your children, your passport page or a medical document.
You can check it yourself by opening your browser’s network panel while you convert. You will see no upload. Your photos stay on your device from the first tap to the last download.
