How do I rotate a PDF and save it permanently?
Drop the file into the box, turn the pages that are wrong, and click “Rotate PDF”. The new orientation is saved into the downloaded file, so it opens the right way up in any viewer and stays that way when you email or print it. You don’t need Acrobat or any other desktop software.
Behind the scenes, every PDF page carries an orientation setting. Each turn changes that setting by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. The text, fonts and images on the page are not redrawn or recompressed, which is why the quality doesn’t drop and why text you could select before is still selectable afterwards.
Tip: If only a few pages are crooked, select just those pages. Rotating the whole file would turn the correct pages sideways too.
How do I rotate only one page of a PDF?
Select that one page in the grid and turn it. Every other page keeps its current orientation. This is the usual fix for a document that mixes portrait and landscape pages, such as a report with one wide table, or a scanned bundle with a single sheet fed in the wrong way.
- Trust the thumbnail. A page that looks upright in the grid will be upright in the download. Keep turning until the text reads normally.
- Use the fewest clicks. A page lying on its right side needs one quarter turn to the left. Two quarter turns make 180 degrees.
- Landscape to portrait. A quarter turn switches a page between landscape and portrait, so a wide page can stand upright for reading on a phone.
- Rotate before other edits. If you also plan to add page numbers or a watermark, fix the orientation first so those marks follow the corrected page.
- Scroll to the end. Long scans often hide a few stray pages near the back, so check the whole grid before you save.
Why does my PDF open sideways, and can I fix it on my phone?
Most of the time it is the scan. A document feeder pulled the sheet in landscape, the phone camera guessed the orientation wrong, or someone scanned a wide table on its side to make it fit. Spreadsheet exports can also mix portrait and landscape pages, and one of them prints the wrong way round.
You can fix it on the same phone that took the picture. Open this page in Safari on an iPhone or Chrome on Android, pick the PDF from your files, tap the crooked pages and turn them. The corrected file is saved to your phone, ready to attach to an email or a job application form.
Is it safe to rotate a PDF online?
Yes. “Online” here only means you open the tool in a browser. Your PDF is read and rotated by that browser, on your own device, and is never sent to a server. That matters when the scan is a passport, a signed contract or a medical letter.
You can check this yourself: open your browser’s network tab, add a file, and rotate it. No file data leaves your device, because the pages are turned right in your browser. There is nothing to install either, so it works the same on a phone, a tablet or a laptop.
