How do I convert a PDF to EPUB?
Drop the PDF into the box above and click “Convert to EPUB”. The tool reads the text, uses headings to split the book into sections and packages everything as an EPUB file. Download it and open it in your e-book app. Your original PDF is not changed.
The aim is a comfortable reading copy, not a perfect clone of the page. If you keep the original PDF alongside, you have the exact layout for reference and the EPUB for reading on the go.
Tip: Convert a short chapter first. A minute spent checking one chapter on your own phone shows whether the whole book will read well.
When does a PDF make a good EPUB?
The result depends mostly on how the PDF was made. This guide shows what to expect.
- Novels, essays and articles (good). Mostly running text, so reflowing it works naturally.
- Reports and manuals with simple pages (fair). The prose reads well. Tables and diagrams are not carried over.
- Two-column papers (fair to weak). Columns can run into each other, so reading order may jump in places.
- Slides, brochures and forms (not suited). These depend on layout, and reflowing destroys the meaning.
- Scans (not directly). Run OCR first, then proofread.
Because this is a Beta, treat it as a way to get long text onto a small screen, not as a publishing tool. For a book you want to sell or distribute, use proper e-book software.
How do I read the EPUB on my phone?
Once you have the file, getting it onto a reader takes a minute.
- iPhone and iPad. Open the file and choose Apple Books. It appears in your library.
- Android. Open it with Google Play Books, or upload it there from the app menu. Many other reader apps open it directly.
- Kobo and other e-readers. Copy the file over USB or through the vendor’s app.
- Kindle. Use Amazon’s send-to-device options, which accept EPUB.
Inside the reader, change the font, size and background to suit you. Use the table of contents built from the PDF headings to jump between sections, and use bookmarks for places you want to come back to.
Is it safe to convert a PDF to EPUB online?
Yes. You open the tool online, but the conversion runs on your own phone or computer. The browser extracts the text from the PDF and builds the EPUB, and at no point is the document sent to a server. That is a relief for unpublished manuscripts, study material and private papers.
You can check it yourself by watching the network tab in your browser while converting: no file data leaves your device. Nothing to install, no account to create, and after the first use the tool works offline too.
